If you haven't heard of them already, BlackPink are Korea's newest darlings. Coming from YG Entertainment, Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo have all got the edge, but their sweet faces, dorky personalities, and modelesque proportions make them crushes for both male and female fans.

BlackPink's music is hard-hitting, but there haven't really been any fierce bops since 4MINUTE'S "Crazy" and 2NE1's disbandment. While in recent years, the K-pop scene has been absolutely permeated with bubbly and cute girl groups, which doesn't make it any easier for the numerous groups to stand out amongst all the debuts. GFriend, although pushing the "innocent" girl image, has challenging choreography that's earned them the respect of many female fans. Because of the hard choreography, female fans feel justified in supporting the group; they certainly don't want to cheer anyone on without reason.

And this hasn't gone without notice. Newer rookie groups like CLC have made it obvious that an image change is sometimes necessary to become relevant. "Goblin" is a heavy, bass-driven song that completely deters away from their past releases like "High Heels" and "Pepe".

With one of the biggest girl crush groups inactive in the K-pop scene, BlackPink has successfully capitalized on the public's craving for strong female figures. Their fanbase has grown so large, earning a fandom name in less than a year of debut: Blinks.
